Join our member Paul as he will be the event leader and he will skipper the 34ft Dafur boat called “Halcyon” for a fun day of sailing in Newport Harbor.
Let’s do a boarding time of 9:30 AM and a sailing time of 10:00 AM. Captain Paul will be stopping for lunch at either Woody’s, Blue Water Grill, or Cannery, depending on slip availability at those places. You can enjoy lunch at the restaurant or pack a lunch for yourself. It is BYOB on board during the day, so please bring you own drinks and a side dish or dessert to share with everyone on board during the day too. Don't forget to bring enough drinks for yourself during the day. There is no ice on board but there is plenty of room to bring your own cooler. There is lots of room on board for coolers, etc. We are planning on being back at the home dock no later than 5:00 PM, perhaps slightly sooner. We suggest that you bring a sweater, just in case of cooler weather. We may or may not go into the open ocean, depending on weather and sea sickness potential. Don't forget your sunscreen too!
This is all subject to weather conditions and may cancel on short notice due to weather.
There is NO parking at the dock, so plan on parking past the facility and over the Lido Island Bridge and walking back to the boat.
Our MeetUp guests may not park on the Windward Sailing property. Parking is also available at the following location: 3390 Via Lido, Newport Beach, CA 92663. It is a four story building with a number of parking spaces available. It is located on the water across from Pavilion’s grocery store. Members may park at any space EXCEPT those marked for the fourth story. This facility is not related in any way to Windward Sailing and parking is not guaranteed. The boat will be located behind the building.
We will have a Big Yellow Flag with a Smiley Face on it so you can find the boat at the dock. The smiley face flag will probably not be visible due to the difficulty of hoisting it on some boats. We will try but look for the group on the dock.
Do not call Windward Sailing for any reason. The office staff and the shore crew are working hard to get the boats ready for us and other Windward Sailing members and they don’t have time available to help our guests. It is the members responsibility for locating this location on a map and they must be responsible enough to show up on time. Early is OK.
Hope you can join us, it sounds like a great way to spend a Summer Sunday afternoon.
